FEROZWALA (Dunya News) – Former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif asserted Friday that Pakistan's journey of progress and development came to a standstill when a party was imposed at the helm through rigged elections.
Shehbaz, while addressing a PML-N procession here, emphasised that Pakistan had consistently developed and progressed during his party’s governments.
Shehbaz pointed out that conspiracies had been hatched to divide Pakistan and the opponents of Nawaz Sharif had introduced a new model that turned the political environment venomous.
The PML-N president stated his belief that Nawaz Sharif could once again lead the country on a path of progress, citing the remarkable progress achieved during Nawaz Sharif's previous tenures.
He asserted that bringing back Nawaz Sharif was essential if the nation wanted to eradicate the menaces of poverty and unemployment.
Highlighting the historical context, Shehbaz noted that Nawaz Sharif had become prime minister for the first time in 1990 and was later removed during his second term by dictator Pervez Musharraf through a coup d'état.
When Nawaz Sharif assumed power for the third time in 2013, the country was plagued by power cuts of up to 20 hours, said Shehbaz as he credited Nawaz Sharif's tireless efforts for resolving this issue and stabilising the power supply.

He also mentioned how Nawaz Sharif had provided relief to the people affected by floods by offering them shelter.
The PML-N president announced that Pakistan's son (Nawaz Sharif) would return to the homeland on October 21, and urged people to gather at Minar-e-Pakistan, the venue of PML-N's procession, to unite under Nawaz Sharif's leadership.

He reiterated the party's commitment to realising the vision of Quaid's Pakistan under Nawaz Sharif's leadership and promised that the three-time prime minister would distribute laptops to the youth.

Shehbaz responded to his critics by defending his government's 16-month performance, emphasising that the PML-N had prioritised the state's welfare over its political capital. He asserted that had Pakistan defaulted, the situation would have deteriorated.

Shehbaz also expressed his concerns about the ongoing brutalities and oppression in Palestine and Kashmir, calling for the granting of freedom to the people in both regions.

He lamented the Israeli brutalities in Gaza against innocent Palestinians and urged an end to the bloodshed, highlighting the dire situation in Gaza Strip due to Israel's blockade, which had left its residents hungry and thirsty.
